Iconic Birmingham Library Makes Special Announcement for Sikhs

VAISAKHI ANNOUNCEMENT via: Phaldip Singh: On the evening of Wednesday 13th April 2016 the iconic Library of Birmingham, the most visited tourist attraction outside of London will be lit up in Orange to celebrate the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi – The founding of the Khalsa in 1699 by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs.

This will be the second time the public building will be lit up in orange in observance of a sacred Sikh festival, a gesture which pays homage to the collective contribution of Sikhs in the UK.

The Library in 2014 presented the Nishkam Seva Society’s Bhai Mohinder Singh with a book to recognize the hard work by organisation.

The first was in April 2014 when Bhai Sahib Bhai Mohinder Singh Ji Chair of Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha initiated the ‘going orange’ of the library – an event organised in partnership with the Birmingham Sikh Community and the Library of Birmingham.
