Senior lawyer HS Phoolka, who has been fighting for the rights of 1984 Sikh massacre victims, on Thursday demanded that former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Bharat Ratna Award be withdrawn, and accused him of justifying the 1984 ‘genocide’.

The recent video released by HS Phoolka has left no doubt among the national media that Rajiv Gandhi justified the 1984 Sikh massacre with his statements at the Boat Club in Delhi. He is heard saying that when a big tree falls, the earth shakes.

Many were aware of the infamous speech by Rajiv Gandhi but the video has cleared all doubts. Rajiv Gandhi justified the massacre as a natural reaction to the assassination of his mother Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.
