Gorkha Group Files Complaint Against ‘Pataal Lok’ Makers For Insulting Nepali Women

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma started a new commercial venture with a web series called ‘Pataal Lok’ and launched it on Amazon Prime Video.

The series was released and quickly garnered controversy surrounding objectionable content. Sikh groups wanted a rape scene removed which many in the community objected to.

A Ghorka group filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission for the use of ‘insulting, demeaning and derogatory’ language for women who speak Nepali in the second episode.

The group called the Arunachal Pradesh Ghorka Youth Association published the complaint on social media which they allege is sexist and the maligns their identity.

“The series seems to have hurt the community and there is a strong protest on social media by Nepali speaking people against this web series “Paatal Lok” for presenting such an insulting, demeaning and derogatory dialogue,” read the caption.

The community went onto say that the content is racist and stereotypes the Northeast people.
