KIRTAN AND GATKA PERFORMED IN UK PARLIAMENT
For the first time in history Gurbani Kirtan and Gatka was performed in the Houses of Parliament in London.
The event titled Vaisakhi in the Palace was organised by Mandeep Singh, Security Manager for Metropolitan Police Parliament and Diplomatic Protection.
UK’s Tav Prasad Jatha recited a beautiful Shabad written by the fourth Sikh Guru followed by Waheguru Simran. Senior members of London’s Metropolitan Police Service and prominent Sikhs joined together to commentate the formation of the Khalsa and the great legacy of the Sikh Gurus as well as the contribution of Sikhs in the United Kingdom.
The event finished with a spectacular performance of Gatka by the Baba Fateh Singh Gatka Akhara.
Organiser Mandeep Singh wrote
“Having several meetings with the Police and Parliament trying to please both parties was no easy task. Having a Vaisakhi event in such a place is incredibly special. Being able to fulfill a vision we had only a few months ago with such sangat around me goes beyond words.
Such is the Greatness of Guru Jee Maharaaj.
It was the first time Kirtan and Gathka was performed here.
I hope this is just the start of other events to follow.”
