It is with great sadness and pain that we are informing the wider community and the hundreds of our committed volunteers that we are no longer allowed to prepare the homeless feeds from Gurdwara Singh Sabha Seven Kings.
Following a lengthy meeting yesterday with Executive Committee Members of Singh Sabha London East, we were told that SEVA is now banned from doing any work at the Gurdwara, despite our simple aim; to serve the less fortunate and have unconditional love for humanity, as per the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
It is a great shame that the very place where we are supposed to come together and serve is the very place that is objecting to our work of feeding the needy each week. For anybody to go against what we do, is to go against the very foundations of Sikhi.
For the welfare of our volunteers and the number of young children involved, we have reached the decision to exit peacefully without a disruptive protest. We do not want the children that attend SEVA to be disheartened about their GuruGhar or have any fear about attending Gurdwaras. We see no sense in filming and shouting in our GuruGhar as in the long term we damage no one but our fellow Sikh brothers and sisters.
We would like to continue our Guru’s mission with peace and humility and we hope you will all continue to support us. We apologise for the inconvenience that will be caused to the families who are listed in attending today’s Jingle Bell youth feed. Please be assured that it is still going ahead as planned but the preparation is relocated.
This is a request to all Sangat to please do ardas that Maharaj continues to give us the ability to serve and remain attached to his feet. May we pray that those who have stopped us from seva find the path of truth.
Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji
