During PM Modi’s visit to Sri Harmandir Sahib, the SGPC asked him to return the precious books and artifacts belonging to the Sikhs of the Sikh Reference Library. The rare artifacts were taken by the Army During the 1984 Invasion of Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji.

The SGPC also requested Modi to build a corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to Kartarpur Sahib, Pakistan, the place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the part of his physical life.

SGPC head Avtar Singh Makkar gave modi a memorandum asking for the return of the precious Sikh artifacts, books, and other material taken by the army.

The SGPC took the opportunity to ask Modi to work through diplomatic channels with countries where hate crimes on Sikhs happen frequently.

Another demand by SGPC was to make a flight from Amritsar to Patna Sahib through Delhi for the cooperation to celebrate the 350th Anniversary on the foundation day of Anandpur Sahib.
