Fake photos of Bhai Balwinder Singh Rangila’s family were circulated on social media last week. The photos were posted in a ‘newspaper’ type format pictures with captions under title ‘The Sikh Times’ that circulated over social media. The photos were identified as being fake and false.
Gursewak Singh Rangila the son of Bhai Balwinder Singh Rangila is an upcoming and rising Kirtan Raagi who is working hard to spread gurmat and Sikh awareness. Gursewak Singh participates in various camps around Punjab to help youngsters come into Sikhi and he also routinely does kirtan seva at various Gurdwaras. Gursewak is a humble individual who is described as being honest and hardworking and so when the false pictures were circulated, they were immediately condemned and deemed fake. Gursewak Singh Rangila is innocent in the matter.
We at Daily Sikh Updates published a post from information provided by an individual that created the false pictures and article under the headline ‘The Sikh Times’. The pictures were floating on Facebook well before our post. We regret to have posted and should’ve used better judgement before relying on the individual. We did our own investigation into the pictures and realized the pictures were fake and immediately removed them. We then saw a video of Bhai Balwinder Singh Rangila clarifying the issue, this video was published before our post was published, it further clarified that indeed those pictures don’t add up.
