Sikh Delhi Gurdwara body the DSGMC has vowed to take legal action against ‘Pataal Lok’ makers for hurting Sikh sentiments in the new Amazon Prime show. The show sparked outrage in the third episode of the webseries where a Sikh man is shown raping a woman while an Amritdhari man is seen watching the incident unfold.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa reached out to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar asking him to impose a ban on the web series for disturbing religious harmony.
Manjinder Sirsa wrote the following on social media:
” Sikhs are the Saviours of women. The whole world recognises Sikhs for their Sewa and Humanity but shame on Anushka Sharma and Amazon Prime India for showing Sikhs as Rapists.
The show #PataalLok showed Amritdhari Sikhs watching the rape or as silent participants of Rape. We cannot allow Amazon to hurt our sentiments and faith; again and again.
This agenda of hatred and painting our religion wrong must stop. This series must be banned and Amazon must be fined for their repetitive attempt to malign religious harmony in India. “
