Representatives of the Congress party in Punjab are demanding Gippy Grewal to be booked with criminal charges in what they stated as “glorifying Terrorism” with the song “Zalaam.”
The Song has received immense support from panthic groups for showing why in the 1990s Sikh youngster took on arms. The video showed the Sikh youngsters were being targeted by the police for promotional purpose and were made to take up arms.
The video was simply a story of a family who lived through the horror of the 90s in the Punjab. The young man was aspiring to be a soldier but due to circumstances had to abandon those plans.
However, the Punjab congress feels the video is provoking and wants Gippy Grewal held responsible. It’s important to mention that Gippy Grewal was only hired to act and sing in the video as an artist and is not behind the making of the song.
The concept and story doesn’t belong to Gippy Grewal but he was only hired for the task.
The Congress party states that if no action is taken then they will launch statewide protest against the singer. They feel the Punjab Police was shown in a bad light.
