The Walnut Gurdwara Sahib in California threw out Sikh parcharak popularly known as ‘Khalsa Ji’ while doing Katha on stage by a Walnut Gurdwara Sahib committee member.
The incident occurred on December 22, 2019 and it’s taken roughly about a week for the news to spread worldwide. The cause of being thrown out was that he spoke a few lines on the Dasam Granth scriptures. Several Banis that are read during Amrit Ceremony come from the Dasam Granth scriptures.
A committee member immediately called out the parcharak and stated, “please stand up and leave the Gurdwara, with respect.”
Immediately after the incident, a committee member further stated that it’s the maryada of the Gurdwara to not speak of certain topics.
However, the humiliation of the parcharak didn’t go lightly on social media. Many people on social media were unhappy at the decision of the Gurdwara committee to humiliate the parcharak and to throw him out of the Gurdwara was incorrect.
Here in this video the incident occurs towards the end:
False Defamation of Parcharak:
One of the lines several people have cut on the Katha to defame the parcharak was of asking for “bheta” and Bhai Sahib at several points particulary minute 23 of the Katha explains that the Bheta is to spread knowledge and he’s not interested in money. He specifically stated that he does not want any money from anyone but to give him bheta by paying attention to him so that they can take knowledge home.
One person on social media made a video to break down what occurred:
