Captain’s Warning to Makers of Battle of Saragarhi

Until Yesterday, there were two film makers looking to make a film on the Battle of Sarargarhi, one starring Randeep Hooda and the other starring Ajay Devgan. Now, a third film will be made on the epic battle featuring Akshay Kumar in the film ‘Kesri.’ The makers are set to shoot for the film after a teaser poster was released by Askhay Kumar and re tweeted by the producer Karan Johar.

However in a media report by the Indian Express, Captain Amarinder Singh has already given warnings to the film makers that if there are any historical inaccuracies that he would sue them.

The Battle of Saragarhi is a historic battle where 21 Sikh Soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment took on 10,000 Orakzai and Afridi tirbals in the North West Frontier Province in 1897 and all became martyrs defending the post.

In the interview with the Indian Express, Captain Amrinder stated that the producers and directors should do their research and and if the portray the battle inaccurate light, that he would sue them.

Further speaking to the Indian Express, he stated that he wouldn’t be happy that if the battle of reduced to a “son and dance movie” such as what occurred with the film Border which was based on the Battle of Longewala of 1971.

Captain has asked the Producers to take on a military historian to help in the research of the film.
