We are appealing for your help to find two men who kidnapped a Sikh man at knifepoint after claiming to be interested in buying his car.
The duo met the 26-year-old man at his Dudley home on Monday 25 May at around 10.40am after seeing his Audi for sale online. But after asking to take the A5 for a test drive they pulled onto the car park of a pub on Dibdale Road and threatened him with a knife.
The man’s hands were tied and a bag placed over his head and he was driven a short distance before being transferred to a silver Nissan Micra EY52UDE, believed to be near Aintree Road. He was then driven to Brasshouse Lane in Smethwick and released.
The Audi was later recovered from a car park in Moseley at the junction of Wake Green Road and Yardley Wood Road and will now be examined by forensic experts.
Detectives investigating the kidnap are now appealing for anyone who saw the vehicles to call them on 101.
Investigations lead us to believe that the Micra was running on plates cloned from a legitimate vehicle from Kent which has been eliminated from the investigation. Therefore we’d ask anyone who saw a Micra, or a white A5 Audi to call us.
The victim has described both of the suspects as Asian men in their mid-twenties. One was tall and slim, had stubble and was wearing glasses with thick black frames. The second had short ‘gelled’ hair and a patchy beard.
The violence shown by the two men has left the victim shaken but thankfully not seriously injured. Therefore we’d appeal for anyone with any information to get in touch so we can bring the offenders to justice.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Leighton Shingles from the force’s Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) by calling 101 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
