(DSU News Bureau) Sikh Jatha by the name of United Sikh Mission was house arrested in a guest house after leaving Gurdwara Paonta Sahib near the border of Dehradun.
The Jatha was on route to take over the site where historical Gurdwara Gyan Godri once stood at Haridwar. The Gurdwara Sahib was demolished in 1984 due to anti-Sikh sentiments.
The Jatha headed by Gurcharan Singh Babbar, Harminder Singh, and Shivinder Singh and about 15 other Sikhs are being kept inside a guest house by police to prevent them from moving forward.
Harminder Singh speaking to Daily Sikh Updates stated, “we are now on the way to CM House escorted by convoy of Uttrakhand Police Vehicles followed by DIG, SDM, SSP in front of our gypsy.” Harminder went onto say, “The IG has told us that he will take us to CM Harish Rawat’s resident in Uttrakhand.”
After the guest house arrest, the jatha was taken to Dehradun police station.
The jatha has released a statment:
“Struggle to reclaim Historical Gurdwara of Guru Nanak devji will continue till our last breath”
After the arrest Harminder Singh said, “we were surrounded by flood of police cars and we are being treated as prisoners and being taken”
