A Sikh man living in Brampton, Canada was hit by a vehcile while riding his cycle to work and later died.
Peel Regional Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick told reporters at the scene that police received a call about a person who appeared to be injured at the side of the road. When officers arrived on scene, they found a male cyclist who had succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has since been identified by family and police as Hardeep Singh Pahra, 30. Pahra, according to relatives, had two children and recently moved to Canada from India. Police said he was biking to work from his home when he was struck.
“The area where this happened, it is not well lit and at 6 a.m. … when this occurred, it would have been extremely dark in the area,” Fitzpatrick said.
“There is a lot of commercial truck traffic and everything here, it is also possible that the individual responsible for this did not realize that they struck somebody.”
Police are asking anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the crash to contact investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
