After rising pressure from Sikhs, The Jammu and Kashmir police has booked a constable involved in the cold blooded murder of a 23 year old Sikh youth named Jagjeet Singh.
The constable was identified as Mukesh Saini whome against FIR was registered under section 302 of the Ranbir Penal Code. Bullets from the constable struck the young Sikh youth boy who died instantly on the spot.
The protests which started due to the police ripping poster of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale spread to other parts of the state after the death.
The demand of Jagjit’s family was to register a complaint against the quilty before the doctors could conduct a postmortem. The police handed over the FIR and the family gave permission for the post mortem.
The area of Kishtwar was under curfew after the clash with police. The civil administration closed down all educational institutions and suspended internet in the state.
Other affected areas:
1) Band in Poonch town near the border
2) Blockades on the Kathua Jammu
3) Curfew in areas of Satwari Chowk to Miran Sahib imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code in rest of the district.
4) Suspension of GPRS service by cellular operators until futher orders.
