Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale speaks about modern-day Bollywood film actors who today’s youth in Punjab seem to idolise. Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa questions whether the youth think these actors have more appeal than Guru Gobind Singh Ji, or more appeal than the Sahibzade?
In historic times, the Moghuls took off the ‘Chuniya’ from our sisters and the ‘Dastaaran’ from our brothers, then in 1947, then in 1984 etc it was others who took these from us. After 1984, our brothers and sisters rotted in jails. But today, we ourselves have taken off our ‘Chuniya’ and ‘Dastaaran’. What have we done?
Leave these Sharukh Khans and Salmon Khans. Are their faces more appealing than Guru Gobind Singh Ji? Are they more dear to us than Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji? Do we not like the beautiful Dastar of Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji? Do our sisters like the clothes of these actresses but not the Chunni of Mata Gujri Ji? What about Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, the mother of the Khalsa? Have we forgotten her?
We must remember our roots and idolise our real stars. We must adorn the Dastaar.
This clip is from the Samagam that took place at Mandi Ladhuka near Fazilka on 5 & 6 April 2016, in which 386 people became Amrtidhari.
