Congress leaders Shakeel Ahmed and Mukesh Sharma denied that any such team or committee has been formed.
Delhi Assembly elections: Will not contest polls, says Sheila Dikshit
Reports had claimed that Rahul Gandhi had included Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar in his team for the Delhi elections, dates for which are yet to be announced.
The Union Cabinet had yesterday approved the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly, as recommended by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.
Both Tytler and Kumar have been accused of involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, and their inclusion in the core Congress Delhi team could see the erosion of Congress’ Sikh votebank.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had termed Rahul’s decision as “shocking”.
Reports had said that Rahul had included eight members in his team for Delhi polls.
The other names included Mahabal Mishra, Matin Ahmed, Haroon Yusuf, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Jai Kishan and JP Aggarwal.
