Medical superintendent of the hospital Vijay Sharda said Rajoana was brought to the hospital around 8.30am with chest pain and was admitted to intensive care unit. Sharda said Rajoana was examined by a medical board of four doctors.
“Results of all the examinations and investigations done on him were normal. He was medically stable. We have referred him to PGIMER for further evaluation,” he said.
Asked why he was shifted to PGIMER, Sharda said some other examinations including angiography and echocardiography, might be needed to figure out the reason for chest pain. “Facility for such tests is not available here. That’s why he has been shifted to PGIMER,” he said.
Balwant Singh Rajoana, a convict on death row in connection with the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, complained of chest pain and was rushed to a government hospital here today.
Rajoana was admitted to Rajindra Medical College and Hospital after he was taken there from the Central Jail here following complaint of chest pain.
Hospital Principal K D Singh told PTI a three-member Board of doctors was constituted to examine Rajoana.
Tests conducted on Rajoana were found satisfactory, he said.
However, Rajoana had been referred to PGIMER Chandigarh for detailed examination, Singh said.
The death row prisoner was discharged from the hospital and taken back to the Central Jail.
He would be taken to PGIMER soon under tight security arrangements, a jail official said.
Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has been hospitalized around 8am Today due to chest pains at Rajindra Medical College and Hospital.
Bhai Sahib was complaining of Chest Pains during early morning and around 8am he was taken from Jail in Patiala to the Hospital and necessary tests are being done to determine cause.
