A day after former Amritsar Member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu accused the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of backstabbing the BJP in Haryana, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann on Thursday appreciated Sidhu’s stand and demanded the cricketer-turned-politician must repeat the tone and tenor in Punjab as well.
Talking to newsmen on the sidelines of a function, Mann said, “I appreciate the way Sidhu has taken on the Akalis. However, he should openly oppose the Akalis in Punjab also and ensure that his wife too resigns from the post of the chief parliamentary secretary,” he said.
“Sidhu’s vocabulary clearly shows that he has fallen out of the BJP’s alliance with the Akali Dal. Now, it is turn of other BJP leaders to follow the suit,” said Mann.
Notably on Wednesday, the former MP had ripped apart the alliance partner Akali Dal during an election rally in Haryana.
Sidhu had accused the Akalis of adopting double standard by going against the BJP in Haryana.
Sidhu had particularly targeted Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for supporting Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Om Prakash Chautala in the Haryana assembly polls.
