The Secretary of the Australian Sikh Council Bawa Singh Jagdev told a major English newspaper of Sydney, Australia that, ” The Turban is a Cultural Tradition For Sikhs and has nothing to do with religion.” The Secretary of the Australian Sikh Council came under fire for his comments and has refused to apologize.

The major issue regarding Sikh organizations appears that the members running them have no idea about the Sikh faith and are aligned more towards the Punjabi culture rather than the Sikh faith.

The Secretary of the Australian Sikh Council is also a committee member of the Sikh Mission Center in Sidney which held a Bhangra performance at the Gurdwara premises.
