Sri Akal Takht Sahib issued an edict on two Nagar Kirtans wanting to visit Pakistan for the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The Akal Takht resolved the controversy by reducing the Nagar Kirtans to one. The Akal Takht raised the issue of politics being in the way of the larger message of the Nagar Kirtans.
Giani Harpreet Singh stated that two Nagar Kirtans created confusion among the Sikhs in Delhi. He went onto say that the Government of Pakistan only approved one Nagar Kirtan to arrive in the country and the Sarna Party achieved those approvals before the DGSMC. The Jathedar ordered DSGMC to support the Nagar Kirtan of the Sarna Party.
The Akal Takht Jathedar stated that the Nagar Kirtan organized by DSGMC will by nullified and the Nagar Kirtan by the Sarna party will proceed forward.
The Akal Takht issued an order to stop the construction of the golden Palki commissioned by the DSGMC. On the issue of Pakistan only allowing one Nagar Kirtan, the Jathedar stated multiple Nagar Kirtans should be allowed.
