The water people drink at railway stations may not be fit to drink, an internal report of the Railways submitted to the Delhi High Court earlier this month reveals. The report was prepared after water samples collected between January and August this year were tested.
The internal report revealed that only half of the 500 pumping stations surveyed had working chlorine plants. The rest of the plans aren’t well maintained and inadequate. The conditions of most plants deteriorated due to lack of maintenance.
The operators of the plants aren’t trained in using the plants.
