Gurjinder Dhaliwal popularly known as “Gary” admitted to killing his former girlfriend Maple Dhaliwal. He admitted to firing five bullets of which 3 of them struck her on the night of September 28, 20111 at SFU Surrey Parkade. Dhaliwal went a step further in the brutal killing by cutting her with a knife 11 times on her head and shortly after fled the scene.
Dhaliwal was scheduled to be sentenced today but the Batalia family requested a delay until Monday so that the sister of Maple can arrive to Vancouver. Dhaliwal faces life in federal prison and no parole for a minimum of 21 years.
Dhaliwal was known to be a super jealous boyfriend who not only stalked her but harassed her with hundreds of text messages leading up to their break up.
