BBC Features Sartaaj’s Film “The Black Prince” on Maharaja Duleep Singh


The story of the last Sikh Maharaja is being chronicled in a film which has been partly shot in the Midlands. It’s being co-produced by a Hollywood studio and stars the famous poet and songwriter Satinder Sartaaj in his big screen acting debut.The Maharaja was removed from his throne by the British in 1849 as a result of the Anglo-Sikh Wars. Here’s our Arts Reporter Satnam Rana. The film is on the life story of Maharaja Duleep Singh the last ruler of the Sikh Empire, “The Black Prince.”

The story revolves around most of his time in the UK showing his ups and downs. The film is much anticipated as it’s a First Hollywood production of a Sikh ruler and features popular Punjabi actor Satinder Sartaaj.
