3 Punjabi Students Charged For Violence in Brampton, Canada


A video went viral on social media showing a group of Punjabi international students fighting at the Brampton commercial plaza last week. In the brawl, several people were hurt and one man hospitalized.

The fighting took place in the parking lot of the plaza. Videos on social media showed the boys fighting with large baseball bats or sticks.

Footage from CCTV cameras and eyewitnesses helped in nabbing 3 men of causing bodily harm. The suspects were identified as Gurpreet Singh, 20, Karanbir Singh, 22 and Harbir Singh,

“This incident had caused a great deal of concern and attention in the community. Peel Regional Police want to ensure the public that these types of incidents will be investigated thoroughly as public safety is our top priority,” Insp. Raj Biring said in a news release.

Sikh MP Raj Grewal also spoke out on the incident:

“We’ve been receiving many phone calls and emails on the video that recently went viral and we are taking this very seriously.

We would like to remind all international students that studying in Canada is a privilege. Anyone who is charged and convicted should know that their immigration status will be reviewed and deportation is a potential end result.
