3 Major Violations by Vancouver Gurdwara Committee Hurts Sikh Sentiments

The Vancouver Ross Street Gurdwara Committee members and Granthis committed Sacrilege on the premises of the Gurdwara during Indian PM Modi’s visit. According to the Sikh code of conduct, all four doors of a Gurdwara are always open to anyone regardless of caste, creed, religion, status, and etc.

However, the Gurdwara committee locked it’s doors to Sikh sangat and only allowed pre-approved people inside. This caused outrage among Sikhs worldwide as Sikh sentiments were hurt. Sikhs who wished to pay respects to their Guru were told to come after 4:30pm. The actions of the Gurdwara committee were completely against the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Also, it is worth taking note that not 1 member of the Gurdwara committee is an Amritdhari Sikh.

The second violation occurred when a member of the Gurdwara committee named Ajay Rai made racist comments against a GurSikh named Moninder Singh. Indian born Ajay Rai told Canadian born Moninder Singh to “go back to India.”

The third violation and a major violation occurred when Granthi Singhs left Guru Granth Sahib Ji alone and went to honor the Indian PM. Now, no person is bigger than Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and leaving Guru Ji without a sevadaar is total disrespect to the King of Kings.
