With the national capital facing a severe water crisis as the Jat unrest in Haryana shows no signs of subsiding, the Delhi government orders all government and private schools to be closed on Monday.
CM Arvind Kejriwal adressing media said that Delhi is facing a very serious water crisis because of Jat protests in Haryana and water is to be strictly rationed in the city. Kejriwal also said he had spoken to Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the need to restore water supply to Delhi at the earliest.
Arvind Kejriwal wrote on Facebook:
“Delhi facing unprecedented water crisis. Soon, water will have to be rationed.
Shouldn’t scarcity be equally shared between public and VIPs?
Since yesterday, we are pursuing with Haryana and Central governments to seek army help to open Munak canal, which supplies Delhi water.
Pray something happens soon.”
