Poor and unfortunate 8 Sikh families with 48 members came in India from Pakistan in 2008 as they were not feeling safe there. They were constantly harassed there and felt unsafe especially for their daughter and mothers. In order to save their honor, lives and Sikh religion they left Pakistan and came to India along with other Hindu families who felt the same in Pakistan. They all are Amritdhari Sikhs and have been living in temporary Tin sheds on someone’s land in Faridabad, near Delhi since then. Last week someone also tried to arson their sheds.
These Sikh families went to all major Sikh Organizations in India including, Delhi Gurudwara Management Committee (DGMC), Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, Sarna and many others but unfortunately they all were pushed away without any help. They also approached Indian Govt and have applied several times for legal status in India but nothing has been done so far. On the other hand the other Hindu families that came from Pakistan along with these Sikh families have been awarded land by the Govt. near Majnu Tilla, New Delhi and made a colony there for their re-habilitation in India.
Non-profit organization Shri Guru Nanak Dev Sewa Society International (SGNDSSI) www.sgndssi.com, found out couple of days ago from someone’s Facebook post about these Sikh families:
Organization Sewadars went there the next day and spoke with these Sikh Families and asked them what there urgent requirements are. Yesterday SGNDSSI Sewadars went there with all their required supplies and distributed to them.
They also need help in getting legal status here in India and help with building homes for them to get them established here in India. They are also all working men who also need some kind of guidance and help in setting up type of business or Factory for them as a source of income.
